Madras Film Institute

The Film & Television Institute of Tamil Nadu is an advanced Technical Institute, which is imparting education on film techniques and aesthetics. The main objective is to impart training in various techniques of Film and Television Production and allied subjects. The Film and Television Institute of Tamil Nadu is one of the five major institutes in India. The others are Film and Television Institute of India, Pune, Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute in Kolkata,Government Film and Television Institute in Bangalore and Bijupatnaik Film and Television Institute] Orissa.

The Film & Television Institute of Tamil Nadu is run by the Government of Tamil Nadu and is functioning under the administrative control of Director of Information and Public Relations. The institute also called as M.G.R Film and Television Institute of Tamil Nadu. It is located at CIT Campus Taramani, Chennai. The following Diploma courses are conducted in the Film and Television Institute of Tamil Nadu.

The Government of Tamil Nadu are presenting an award of one sovereign gold medal, Rs.5,000/- and a memento to the Best Director, Best cinematographer, Best Editor, Best Sound recordist and Best Film Processor of the short films produced by the students of this institute.
